CA Third Anniversary: Same Convictions, New Direction!

19240138_c1a4a72eca I cannot believe I let the third anniversary of this blog slip away without mention last month. On 13 February, this blog turned three! A toddler now. Self exploration is put on the back burner as curiosity of the world takes precedence.

In 2006, the purpose of this blog was to flush out ideas for my Master’s Thesis. I have come to understand my Communicator’s Twelve Step Program is just as relevant today as it was three years ago. I must stay firm to my convictions but realize,

“Fight for your opinions, but do not believe that they contain the whole truth, or the only truth.” – Charles A. Dana

This is the best lesson I have learned in the past three years.

I started 2009 with the conviction that I needed a fresh start. I cannot keep falling into the same ruts over and over again. I alluded to life changes occurring this year. Now I am ready to let the world know my plans…

This Fall, I am moving to the Boston area. During the New Year celebrations, I accepted a marriage proposal to Leonardo Souza. He is being transferred from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Boston in late Spring. I will be uprooting my life here in Dallas to join him.

For the first time, I will be moving without a firm plan for my professional future. I plan to continue teaching Marketing Communications. I am also seeking a new job in the communications industry specializing in public relations/social media. This is a tough economic time to leave my current stable job and seek new territory, but I pray I carve out a niche in Boston as I did here in DFW.

Though the move is months away, I will continue to give my best in my current jobs. Thank you to all who have given me room to grow and find my wings. This move from my comfort zone will be the test of my newfound wings and confidence.

Please spread the word…Lauren Vargas is for hire!

Thank you, Linda! I will come back to DFW often to visit…promise.

  • Adele McAlear

Oh, I’m late to the party, but boy am I thrilled for you! I’ve known of your desire for a fresh start for some time, and I am so excited that you will be a mere 5 hour drive from my doorstep. Yet another reason why I must visit Boston this year. Congratulations on your decision. I have every confidence that you will find meaningful work in your new home. (PS, Call on me when you and Leo need tips on dressing for snow. Being in Montreal, I’m an expert!)

  • Lauren Vargas

Adele, Leo and I will need a lot of advice in prepping for cold weather! A whole new wardrobe for our family is necessary…perhaps I should start buying in off-season?
Thank you for well-wishes! Now that we will be closer, no excuse for serious road trips!

  • Doug Haslam

Congratulations to both of you on the engagement! It’s nice to see someone moving to Boston from Texas– we got sick of colonizing your (soon to be ex) state with our social media nomads.
looking forward to your joining our Boston community!
